This past session I sponsored legislation at the request of the Fairfax County Child Care Advisory Council to make our home daycare facilities safer for our children.  While Fairfax County was able to require a state criminal background check for a child care provider, it was not authorized to require a national background check even if there was evidence of potential out-of-state criminal activity.  My HB 2100 provides this authority.  On Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted changes to their regulations.  Thanks to the Child Care Advisory Council and the Fairfax County Office for Children for your advocacy and keeping our children safe!   Check out the Patch article here.
